Tonight I went with my mom to Relief Society. They had some guests come to teach bread-making techniques, start to finish in 1 hour. I didn't think my mom needed to go because she makes KILLER bread, but she insisted it would be good. Well, can I tell you...it was awesome! I left so energized and excited to make bread. I have long been afraid of yeast. The few times I have attempted to bake with it have resulted in disaster. Given my experience tonight, I just might try it again.
They have one recipe that can be used for 50 + recipes, in addition to regular loaf bread (breadsticks, rolls, baguettes, pizzas, main dishes, desserts...) They made 6 or 7 different recipes out of the 1 batch of dough they mixed up. We got to sample them all and they really tasted great. They teach it as a food-storage class since all the ingredients can sit on the shelf (or in the freezer) for a long time. It was impressive! Here is a link to their blog. I am for sure going to pass the info on to my ward RS Enrichment ladies. Mom, thanks for inviting me. I had a great time. I just might become a bread maker yet!

Is it me, or do you guys always do fun things when I am not around? I am so jealous, but I am glad you all had a good time. I can't wait to taste something so, get baking!
I agree... get going so we can all share in your new discovery! :-) Actually, I've been wanting to do more baking lately too, I'll have to check out their recipes. I have a neighbor who makes the best wheat bread I have ever had. I keep meaning to get her recipe too. You have inspired me! (Just give me until school is out, no miracles are gonna happen until then :-)
This sounds like so much fun! I would LOVE to take their class. Hopefully we can get them to come to our ward. That pizza seasoning looks good. Did you try it?
That sounds like fun! I tried to make bread once and it turned out way too doughy!
That's a great idea!! (I need all the ideas I can get for Enrichment Night :) I love homemade bread. I don't think there is anything better!
I've always been afraid to make bread also. Rhoades always looked much better to me, but I would love to give it a try. Maybe lessons at your house would be a lot funner!
Hey Heather! Funny to check your blog and find this post...last night I was enjoying this same class! Even more, I was enjoying all the yummy bread and pizza they made! I went without dinner so my stomach growled the entire time!
Now I am off to Costco to buy some "Turkey Flour" (bread flour)
Have fun making dinner tonight!
