H2O

Every Conference weekend I get to thinking about our emergency preparedness...I am not sure why...I guess it is just a habit that has formed. Lately I have been thinking a lot about water storage, so I wanted to share a tip. I have a bunch of water stored away in the big 5 gallon jugs and some in special water boxes too, but seriously, the thought of dumping it all out and putting new water in it just about does me in. I don't think I have the patience for that. And really, the thought of drinking water that has been sitting around for a year just doesn't sit very well with me either. So, once again, I have turned to Costco for the answer! :)

If you buy the 35 count, 16.9 oz. Kirkland bottled water it is under $4. (Sorry, can't quote the exact price.) The date on the bottles in 2 years out. I did the math and 1 package of those has nearly as much water in it as the 5 gallon jug holds. Much more appetizing in my opinion... So I will be saving the water I already have stashed away for emergency sanitation needs, which is also very important. In the meantime I will be using my Kirkland water on a regular basis and rotating everytime I go to Costco. Because really, who would even notice an extra $3 spent at that store. I just pick one up every time I go and it adds up fast!

Click here to see the guidelines on water storage from FEMA. At a minimum we should have 3 days worth of water stored...at least one gallon, per person, per day.

Obsessed.

If I could I would spend the whole day cooking from this blog...watermelon lemonade, blueberry boy bait and marshmallows would be at the top of the list!

Be Prepared!

photo by preparednesspro (I only wish this was my food storage.)

Okay, so you know that the preparedness bug bit us a while back...funny thing it took so long since my parents are preparedness die hards! Oh well...better late than never. Last week my mom went to a class to learn more about her new Sun Oven and it was taught my PreparednessPro. I spent a good chunk of last night reading her website and I am determined to take some of her classes. Check it out HERE.

there are 1...2...3...4!

Today my friend Emily informed me that we have a tiny little nest hiding between my front door and the wreath that hangs on it. (I guess that is what I get for leaving my Christmas wreath up until Memorial Day...oops.)

When I left my house this morning at 5 am to go to spin class a bird flew out of the wreath when I opened the door and it scared me to death! My first thought was...I have got to take this wreath down today. (Too bad I didn't take it down yesterday...pre-birds...) I am so grateful my friend Em found this before I yanked the wreath down and sent the sweet little baby birds to an early demise. So for now I am tending kids & eggs and trying to keep the mother bird happy.

Krissy is delighted to finally have a pet...and I am marveling at the beauty and resourcefulness...the nest is made with grass, dirt, twigs & our dryer lint. Kyle had just cleaned out the vent this week and left if in the flower bed.

BEWARE if you come up my porch and she is sitting on the eggs she comes flying at you...and it is a bit unnerving. I think if we do get a knock at the door I will have to open the garage because I can't bear the thought of the door slamming shut and breaking the nest or bumping the eggs out. They really are so beautiful...let's just hope they hatch soon. Really soon. We'll keep you posted!

Uh-oh

We came home to find THIS on Sunday...and now it is Thursday and it is still laying on our lawn. Not fun, but it definitely could have been worse...at least it didn't fall on someone or something. I think it was Mother's Nature's revenge for neglecting our yard this year. Oh well, maybe next year.

Invitation!

Here it is...the Scentsy party of the century...okay, the Scentsy party of the week! I am so excited to host a party. I generally don't get into throwing home parties, but I went to a Scentsy party a while ago and loved it! I am excited to reorder the scents I loved and try some new ones. I want to invite all my blogging buddies...commenters and lurkers alike! I would love to get together and chat face-to-face! Imagine that!? Shaunee tells me they will be doing 10% off every order for this party. No pressure here though. Come if you want, buy something if you want, but PLEASE don't feel obligated in any way. You can get an early peek here. Hope to see you next week!

Scentsy!

A few months ago I bought my first Scentsy. I absolutely LOVE what I got. I have tried several different scents and they all smell great! I just found out my sis-in-law is going to sell them...(to addicted groupies like me)! You know how I am with home fragrance...just a bit obsessed...so I am very excited to have quick and easy access! I quickly volunteered to host her first party!

In a day...

It truly is amazing what can be accomplished in a day. Friday we got a new patio. We are working on a backyard makeover and can't wait to have it all finished. We are envisioning lots of fun BBQ's & get togethers this summer! The guy that did the work was awesome, so if you are needing any work like this done I would love to give you his information.

Thank you President Bush!

In order to do my part to stimulate the economy I have done a little shopping! Just trying to be patriotic and American you know. My heart does go out to any of you (who will remain nameless) that don't qualify for the stimulus package. This is one time that it pays to be poor! :)
So...here is my new chair. It speaks to me. What does it say, you might ask? Well, to start with it said, "Buy me, buy me!" I am loving it. Hopefully it will stay looking beautiful for a long while...
