Chasing family history...
This weekend we went in search of some family history. My mom has done a fantastic job of learning about her family history and has shared it with us over the years. It is amazing, the feelings that come when you learn about your ancestors and see where they lived their lives. My Grandpa Goodwin died 18 years ago this month. I have been missing him so much. It felt good to visit the places that he loved. We had the chance to visit the graves of 3 generations of my Grandparents on my mom's-dad's-mom's -dad's-dad side of the family...
Ephraim K. Hanks (my third great grandpa)
Walter E. Hanks (my second great grandpa)
Thisbe A. Hanks (my great grandma)
Glen Goodwin (my grandpa)
Kaye G. Nielsen (my mom)
Heather N. Adams (me)
The whole way home I thought about them & other ancestors that I would like to learn more about. I know that someday I will meet them all again. I hope to live in a way that would make them proud of the name and heritage they have given me.

So very cool Heather. I am so glad that you took all those beautiful pictures. I love that our kiddos will able to be connected to our wonderful heritage.
It looks like you guys had a great time. That is really neat that you got to see where your ancestors spent their lives. What a treasured memory.
What a memorable trip! I am so glad you were able to do this with your family!
I love going back and visiting our ancestors. It really makes you think. I'm glad you had such a good weekend!!!
What a beautiful area. Great pictures. I love doing that kind of stuff!
I'm sure they're proud of you already. I know that our ancestors are all rooting for us, over here. I LOVE family history and have many fond memories of my family taking trips like this together.
What a rich heritage and it's nice you live so close that you can visit those places.
I'm glad you guys had a great time, even with the obstacles you were faced with.
Hi Heather, I think I might have mentioned this to you before but your 3rd Great Grandpa is one of my personal hero's. He is an extremely interesting person in church history. He saved hundreds of lives in the handcart companies! Most people have no idea how critical a role he played. A great example of an inspired man heading to the promptings of the spirit.
This is something that I really love. I just purely enjoy reading about my ancestors. Cemetery's are wonderful places; you have the opportunity to learn about others who have passed on. I have only one ancestor (my grandpa) buried in the United States, and I would love to visit the rest of them in Europe. Oh, by the way, have you ever been to the Salt Lake Cemetery?? Most of the prophets are buried up there...and I absolutely love it there. Just an idea...:D
I thought that I already commented here... weird! There is just a feeling that runs so deep when we learn more about our ancestors. I love these kind of trips, and it is such a good experience for your kids too. I'm glad that you had such a nice time!
